SASSA pays grants over the first working days of every month, in the same fixed order: Older Persons first, then Disability, then Child Support, with all remaining grants on a fourth day. If your grant is under review you are not paid in the normal three-day cycle; you are paid on the fourth payment day.

What shifts a payment date

• Weekends and public holidays — payment moves to the next working day, never earlier.
• A grant review — moves you to the fourth payment day for that month.
• Your bank's processing — SASSA releases the money, then your bank posts it. Allow 2–3 business days before treating it as missing.
• A suspension — stops payment entirely until resolved, whatever the date.

How to check your own payment date

1. Check your SMS notifications

   SASSA sends review and payment notifications to the cellphone number on its database. Keep that number up to date — SASSA can only reach you on the details it holds.

2. Call the toll-free line

   0800 60 10 11 with your ID number. Expect queues in the first week of the month — that is when everyone else is calling.

3. Ask at a SASSA office

   Office staff can confirm your payment status and date. Free Wi-Fi is available at SASSA offices so you can use the online services from your own phone.

The SRD grant is not on this schedule
