SASSA payment dates 2026/2027: the full schedule for every grant
On this page (7 sections)
SASSA pays grants over the first working days of every month, in the same fixed order: Older Persons first, then Disability, then Child Support, with all remaining grants on a fourth day. The exact calendar dates shift each month depending on weekends and public holidays — the full schedule for every month from April 2026 to March 2027 is in the table below. If your grant is under review you are not paid in the normal three-day cycle; you are paid on the fourth payment day.

What shifts a payment date
- Weekends and public holidays — payment moves to the next working day, never earlier.
- A grant review — moves you to the fourth payment day for that month.
- Your bank's processing — SASSA releases the money, then your bank posts it. Allow 2–3 business days before treating it as missing.
- A suspension — stops payment entirely until resolved, whatever the date.
How to check your own payment date
- Check your SMS notifications
SASSA sends review and payment notifications to the cellphone number on its database. Keep that number up to date — SASSA can only reach you on the details it holds.
- Call the toll-free line
0800 60 10 11 with your ID number. Expect queues in the first week of the month — that is when everyone else is calling.
- Ask at a SASSA office
Office staff can confirm your payment status and date. Free Wi-Fi is available at SASSA offices so you can use the online services from your own phone.
The SRD grant is not on this schedule
The R370 SRD grant has no fixed national pay day. Each month SASSA completes its database checks, approves qualifying applicants and assigns individual dates, usually in the second half of the month. Yours appears on your status check — see how SRD payment dates work.
Frequently asked questions
What are the SASSA payment dates for August 2026?
Older Persons on 4 August, Disability on 5 August, Child Support on 6 August, and all other grants — including grants under review — on 7 August 2026.
Why am I being paid later than usual this month?
The most common reason is that your grant has been identified for review, which moves you to the fourth payment day. Check for an SMS from SASSA, then read what to bring to your review.
What time of day does SASSA pay?
There is no fixed time. Payments release in batches through the day and banks post them on their own schedule. If your date has passed by more than 2–3 business days, work through payment not received.
Do I lose the money if I don't collect it on the day?
No. Funds paid to a card or bank account remain available until you withdraw them.
Are payment dates different by province?
No. The schedule is national. What varies locally is queue length at pay points and retailers, not the date.
Why did my neighbour get paid before me?
Different grants pay on different days — an Older Persons Grant pays before a Child Support Grant every month. Compare grant types, not people.
