SRD payment dates: how your pay date actually gets set

The SRD grant has no fixed national payment day. Each month, SASSA finishes its database checks, approves qualifying applicants, and assigns individual pay dates — typically falling in the second half of the month, spread over days or weeks. Your date appears on your status check once processing completes. This is different from permanent grants, which do follow a published schedule.
The monthly rhythm

The rhythm shifts month to month — public holidays, verification re-runs and system load all move it. That's why the honest answer to “when will I be paid?” is always: the date on your own status, not a date from a Facebook post.
Permanent grants are different
Older Persons, Disability and children's grants pay on published dates in the first week of each month — Older Persons first, then Disability, then children's grants. The full annual schedule lives at grant payment dates, and monthly confirmations appear in updates.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my neighbour get paid before me?
Dates are assigned per person as each application clears its checks — two approved neighbours can be weeks apart. Only your own status date is meaningful.
My pay date passed and nothing arrived.
Allow 2–3 banking days, then work through payment not received.
Do weekends and holidays delay payment?
Payments release on business days, so a date falling on a weekend usually reflects the next business day.
