Check your SRD appeal status
On this page (4 sections)
Check your appeal at srd.dsd.gov.za: choose the appeal status option, enter your ID number and registered phone number, and confirm the SMS PIN. Outcomes are issued per month appealed, officially within 90 days of lodging.
What each appeal status means
| Status | Meaning | Your move |
|---|---|---|
| Received / Registered | The Tribunal has your appeal | Nothing — keep the reference |
| Pending / Under consideration | Databases being re-verified | If the underlying record (UIF, NSFAS, DHA) is still wrong, keep pushing that correction — it decides the outcome |
| Approved / Upheld | The declined month becomes payable | Watch for payment in the next cycle; see backpay |
| Dismissed / Declined | The Tribunal agreed with the original decline | Read your options — this is not the absolute end |
Realistic timelines
The official window is 90 days per appeal. In practice many resolve in 4–8 weeks; backlogs after months with mass declines can stretch it. Checking daily changes nothing — every two weeks is plenty.
Frequently asked questions
My appeal was approved but no money arrived.
Approved appeal months pay with your next normal cycle, and require working payment details — check bank details pending if you see that status.
Can I add documents to a lodged appeal?
No — the process has no uploads. The Tribunal relies on the databases, which is why correcting the source record matters more than paperwork.
