SRD backpay: every approved month must eventually pay

SRD backpay is every month your status shows Approved that was never actually paid — most often because bank details weren't verified yet, or an appeal was won later. Approved months accumulate and remain owed to you; they pay out (often together) once your payment details verify. At R370 per month, five unpaid approved months is R1,850 waiting on one fix.
Count what you're owed
- Open your month-by-month status
The status check lists each month separately.
- Mark the approved-but-unpaid months
Approved with a past pay date and no money, or approved with no pay date ever set.
- Multiply by R370
Months from April 2024 onward are R370 each (earlier cycles were R350). Three months = R1,110; six months = R2,220.
- Fix the one thing blocking all of them
Almost always payment details: bank details pending. Won an appeal? Those months join the queue automatically.
What backpay is not
- Not months before you applied — payment starts from your application month.
- Not declined months — only an appeal won turns a declined month into an approved (and thus payable) one.
- Not automatic interest or extras — it is exactly the missed months at the then-current amount.

Does backpay expire?
Within the current SRD cycle, approved months remain owed. Don't test the edges — fix your details now, not at cycle end (the programme currently runs to March 2027).
