Frequently asked questions
Does a decline affect my future months?
No. SRD eligibility is assessed fresh every month. You stay in the system and each new month is checked on its own.

Can I fix a decline without appealing?
No — for a declined month, only an appeal (or the Tribunal) can reverse the outcome for that month. But fixing the underlying record stops future months being declined for the same reason.

Can I appeal months from last year?
Only outcomes within their 90-day window can be appealed. Older wrongly-declined months are generally lost — one more reason to check your status monthly.

Do I need a lawyer?
No. The process is designed for self-service. For a dismissed appeal you believe is unlawful, Legal Aid SA helps free of charge.

My appeal was approved but no money arrived.
Approved appeal months pay with your next normal cycle, and require working payment details — check bank details pending if you see that status.
Can I add documents to a lodged appeal?
No — the process has no uploads. The Tribunal relies on the databases, which is why correcting the source record matters more than paperwork.
Can I lodge a second appeal for the same month?
No — one appeal per month's outcome. New months create new outcomes, each appealable if declined.

Is judicial review worth it for R370?
For one month, rarely. For a pattern — every month dismissed on a record you've proven wrong — it can unlock all of them, and Legal Aid takes exactly these cases.
