Was the SASSA gold card deadline extended?
No. Postbank confirmed the 31 August 2026 deadline would not move. Replacement sites did, however, stay open afterwards so that people who missed it could still migrate.

I missed the deadline. Have I lost my grant?
No. Payments continue to be deposited into your account. You cannot access them until you collect a black card, at which point the money — including any missed payment run — is available.

Why is my SASSA card declined?
Since 31 August 2026 the most common answer is that it is still a gold card. After that: no funds yet, an expired card, a block from wrong PIN attempts, or physical damage.

Does replacing the card cost anything?
No. Replacement is free at Postbank sites inside major supermarkets, weekdays 09:00–17:00, with only an ID required.

How do I block a lost SASSA card?
Call Postbank on 0800 5354 55 immediately. Have your ID number ready.
