You can receive the R370 four ways: into a bank account in your own name (fastest and safest), onto a Postbank/SASSA card, via bank mobile-money / cash-send to your registered phone, or as cash collection at major retailers (Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, Usave) with your ID and an SMS PIN. You can change method any time via the official banking link.

Choosing for your situation

  • Have any bank account in your name? Use it — no queues, no expiring vouchers, and the R370 is protected like any deposit.
  • No account? Retail collection is the most reliable cash route: any till at the listed retailers, with your ID and the PIN sent to your registered number.
  • Sharing a phone? Avoid mobile-money — whoever holds the SIM when the PIN arrives holds your grant. Consider retail collection with your own SIM, or open a no-fee account: most banks offer zero-monthly-fee accounts that satisfy verification.

Frequently asked questions

Can the grant be paid into e-wallets like TymeBank or Capitec?

Any registered South African bank account in your own name qualifies, including digital banks — they verify like any other account.

My collection PIN expired before I could get to the shop.

Uncollected payments return to SASSA and re-issue; call 0800 60 10 11 if a re-issue doesn't appear in the next cycle.
