Change your SRD phone number (even without the old SIM)

Change your registered SRD number on srd.sassa.gov.za under “How do I change my cellphone number”. You'll need your ID number and your application ID to authorise the change. Lost the old SIM entirely? There's a route for that too — but expect extra verification, because the number is the key to your grant.
If you still have the old number
- Open the change section on the portal
srd.sassa.gov.za → “How do I change my cellphone number”.
- Verify with your ID and application ID
The application ID was on your confirmation screen/SMS when you applied. Don't have it? Retrieve it via the portal's application-ID lookup with your old number first.
- Confirm both numbers
An OTP to the old number authorises the switch; the new number is then confirmed with its own OTP.
If the old SIM is lost, stolen or dead
- Try the application ID route first
With your ID number plus application ID, the portal can authorise a change without the old SIM in many cases.
- No application ID either? Call SASSA
0800 60 10 11 — ask specifically for the cellphone-number change process for SRD. Identity questions replace the OTP.
- Escalate at a SASSA office if needed
Bring your ID. Office staff can lodge the change with full identity verification when remote routes fail.
