Declined: flagged by another government database

This catch-all decline means a government database other than the usual ones flagged you — commonly correctional services (registered as an inmate), SARS records suggesting income, or another state register. The fix depends entirely on which database it was, so the first job is identifying it.
Is this decline commonly wrong?
Sometimes. People who were released from correctional facilities, or whose SARS records reflect old employment, get caught by lagging data. Identity mix-ups also occur.
Evidence that overturns it
- Call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 with your ID number at hand and ask specifically which database flagged the decline.
- For correctional services: proof of release.
- For SARS: a statement of account or confirmation of no current income.
How to appeal
Lodge your appeal on the official appeals portal at srd.dsd.gov.za within 90 days of the outcome — and separately for each month that was declined.
